The voice of tourism
Northumberland Tourism is the voice of tourism in Northumberland working with businesses and public agencies to achieve the vision for Northumberland, to promote the area and ensure visitors have the best possible experience.
Campaigns
Northumberland is a partner with VisitEngland in their ‘Growing Tourism Locally’ 3-year campaign which is funded through the Regional Growth Fund. Northumberland’s share of this funding is £375,000 over the three years.
We are planning two seasonal campaigns each year as part of ‘Growing Tourism Locally’. Click here to see an outline of these campaigns and when they will be run.
Our first seasonal campaign, ‘Northumberland’s Historic Spirit’ launched in February 2013 and will run until August. Advertising activities (Feb-March) included:
• A national insert in over 500,000 copies of the Weekend Telegraph;
• Advertisements in magazines such as Countryfile, Trail magazine, Coast and Readers’ Digest;
• Digital advertising on targeted websites
The effectiveness of this activity will be measured via consumer research with results expected in July.
If you would like to be a campaign partner for one of our future campaigns please contact us to discuss. Email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 01670 794520.
PR
PR activities are a cost effective way for us to promote Northumberland to prospective visitors. We respond to requests from TV, press and publications for information and images, and also proactively encourage journalists to consider visiting the county and publications to include positive stories about the county.
If you have a story that you think would be of interest to the press, or you would like to help us by hosting journalists or providing a prize, please let us know.
Social Media
We proactively use social media channels to spread the word about Northumberland and our events, and to encourage visitors and fans to promote us to their friends and family. Make sure you link to us:
