What we do
Northumberland Tourism is the county's Destination Management Organisation.
Our primary role is to deliver the aims and objectives of Northumberland's tourism strategy – the Area Tourism Management Plan (ATMaP).
The voice of tourism
Northumberland Tourism is the voice of tourism in Northumberland working with businesses and public agencies to achieve the vision for Northumberland, to promote the area and ensure visitors have the best possible experience.
We have four key roles:
In all four areas NT has a 'facilitator' role in bringing people and organisations together to make things happen. This requires skilled, connected and experienced staff on the ground to deliver this core role.
Northumberland Tourism has a 'deliverer' role in each of these areas undertaking activity directly and running projects. This includes everything from marketing campaigns to running projects designed to improve the quality of the visitor offer.
Today more than ever before, the public sector is being encouraged to forge strong partnerships between public, commercial and social sectors, to find innovative and creative ways to deliver public services. As a public/private partnership Northumberland Tourism has from its establishment worked in this way.
