Business Forum - Web & Campaigns

A meeting was held with businesses on the 27th July. The first part of this meeting discussed www.visitnorthumberland.com and was attended by 10 business representatives. An online survey was advertised prior to the meeting to allow businesses to give their feedback and comments about the website.

4 people filled in this survey. Those attending the meeting agreed that improvements to the website should focus on inspiring the visitor and presenting the 'heart and soul' of the county, with more use of photography and video. The 'Independent Spirit' brand also should be more strongly presented throughout the site. All comments and suggestions will be used in the development of an updated web development strategy.

During the second half of the meeting we presented a proposed structure for future campaigns, inviting businesses to buy into these in return for heightened exposure. 15 people attended this session and although all agreed that it is important that Northumberland continue to be promoted, most also pointed out that they would be unable to afford to contribute to campaign budgets. Given this response we will aim to devise flexible shoulder season campaigns based on free or low cost activity, but with opportunities for businesses to participate in the Spring campaign if they wish. Details of activities will be available on www.northumberlandtourism.co.uk soon.
