John Penrose MP, Minister for Tourism

Visit to the North East, June 23

The Tourism Minister visited Northumberland and NewcastleGateshead on June 23rd, meeting businesses from across the North East. Overall it was a positive meeting where businesses were able to impress on the Minister the critical importance of tourism for our economy, the leading approach taken by many innovative businesses and organisations, and the strong partnerships in existence.

Government is in the midst of reviewing Red Tape with the aim of making it easier to do business, so the Minister was particularly keen to hear the views of businesses on unwanted legislation and barriers to growth.
