Rateable Value Increases

businessrates

We have been contacted by some businesses who have been subjected to what seem like very unreasonable Rateable Value increases in the recent review by the Valuation Office. Self-catering properties seem to have been especially hit with the average increase for holiday lettings in the North East at 112.2%.

The reasons given seem to be that, because of limited supply and increased occupancy, operators have been able to significantly increase the rates they charge.  We are working with the Professional Association of Self-Catering to challenge this assumption as we haven’t seen any evidence of it in the information we collect from you.   If you have been affected by an increase in your rateable value, which you don’t think is justified, This email address is being protected from spambots.
