Celebrate Northumberland Gold Award Win with new marketing campaign

Northumberland Tourism have announced a new Spring/Summer marketing campaign and logo to celebrate Northumberland being named as Best UK Holiday Destination at the 2018 British Travel Awards.

Northumberland took the prestigious title in late 2018, knocking Cornwall who have held the trophy since 2009, off the top spot.

The award was unveiled to businesses at Northumberland Tourism’s recent Marketing & PR Partners Meeting, where it was revealed that the Visit Northumberland marketing campaign for Spring/Summer will be “Northumberland, officially the best place to visit” to celebrate the British Travel award win.

Jude Leitch, Director at Northumberland Tourism said: “Winning Best Destination in the British Travel Awards was a momentous achievement for Northumberland and everyone involved in our tourism industry should be very proud.
“I would encourage all our tourism businesses to celebrate this win and use it to boost their business this year by displaying the logo wherever they can. Becoming a partner of our new campaign will put businesses on a national platform and support us as we promote Northumberland as the best destination.”

British Travel Awards’ chief executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said: “Northumberland winning Best UK Holiday County in the 2018 British Travel Awards, was a fantastic achievement and huge congratulations at the recognition!  
“The British Travel Awards are the only travel industry accolade voted for exclusively by the consumer and the Awards serve to recognise all that is great about travel, as experienced by the travelling public. To win a British Travel Award is a true achievement.”

The new campaign will celebrate the ‘Best of Northumberland’ working with tourism businesses to encourage visitors to spend their holidays in Northumberland. Involvement in the campaign sees businesses promoted on the official visitor website for Northumberland, across social media, e-newsletter and in nationwide marketing. Two designs of the logo are available to download which will support the campaign and maximise business potential to encourage potential visitors to choose Northumberland over other destinations.
