Visit Northumberland goes full steam ahead with new Head of Marketing and Partnerships

Experienced marketeer Holly joins Visit Northumberland after being instrumental in successfully launching the digital marketing and online presence for Ad Gefrin, Northumberland’s new world-class visitor experience and whisky distillery depicting the golden age of Northumbria.

Pictured at Heatherslaw Light Railway to support the launch of their new ‘Dark Skies from the Train’ experience, Holly said, “It’s an exciting time to be joining the Visit Northumberland team. We are working on several national and regional projects, and my first priorities will be to focus on developing our partnership programme and repositioning our marketing strategy in response to direct industry feedback.

All of this will contribute to the work we are doing to streamline our activities and best shape Northumberland’s tourism industry.”

This has come as some major ongoing developments are being taken forward and Holly’s experience, along with her passion for Northumberland, will be instrumental in driving upcoming projects, partnerships and successes.

Visit Northumberland, the Visit England accredited Local Visitor Economy Partnership for the county, is a founding partner of the North East Destination Development Partnership (DDP) and is coordinating the delivery of the Northumberland Destination Management Plan, a blueprint for the sustainable development of the Northumberland visitor economy.

The Destination Management Plan sets out actions needed to develop the visitor economy, with many of these high on the priorities for delivery. This includes the creation and promotion of a Northumberland Pledge, subscription to an online destination insight tool, and a capital investment programme to support improvements to car parking, public toilets and development of new tourism products.

Visit Northumberland will be developing its own business offering, with plans to roll out partner surveys and host industry round tables with a view to tailor the industry’s partnership offer.

The organisation has also bolstered its partnership team with the addition of two new members, with a goal to offer a more personal experience for businesses seeking product development support and business guidance.

Andrew Fox, chair of Visit Northumberland, said, “The addition of three new members to the team brings with it the opportunity to enhance the presence of our partner businesses in local, regional and national activity as specified in the Destination Management Plan that are vital to growing Northumberland’s visitor economy. Strengthening this operational capacity will ensure we continue to serve the interests of our business partners and continue to deliver sustained recovery in the sector.”
