Visit Northumberland is looking for a Partnership & Product Development Assistant

Visit Northumberland is the county’s official VisitEngland accredited Local Visitor Economy Partnership and provides the leadership, influence and strategic drive essential to realise the vision of putting Northumberland firmly on the map as a premier visitor destination proactively leading the business community in the county.

PARTNERSHIP AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT

Main purpose of role

To increase participation in the Visit Northumberland partnership scheme and support the delivery of product development initiatives.

Main responsibilities

The role of the Partnership and Product Development Assistant is to support the delivery of the Visit Northumberland partnership schemes and assist in the delivery of a broad range of strategic tourism development projects and experiences. Working closely with key stakeholders in the tourism and experience sector, the role is to grow Visit Northumberland’s partner base and develop Northumberland’s visitor experience and product offering. 

Partnership

  • Pro-actively sell products to new and existing partners to achieve and exceed monthly and annual targets, maximising new business opportunities within defined markets.

  • To work closely with all Visit Northumberland team members to maximise opportunities, acting as a point of contact on sales and partnership matters both internally for all Visit Northumberland staff and externally for partners. 
     
  • Working with the Partnership team build and maintain relationships with partners by account managing and nurturing key partners and providing support to other partners as required.  

  • Support the growth of partnership income levels and relevant income generating opportunities.

  • Support development, preparation and distribution of partner welcome packs, certificates and other associated documentation.

  • Update and maintain the Visit Northumberland Product Audit database

Product Development

  • Assist in planning and organisation of new tourism product development projects and identify opportunities to develop tourism products and services.

  • Provide business development advice to Northumberland visitor economy businesses relating to Visit Northumberland led and supported funded product development programmes.

  • Maximise partner engagement in product development programmes and Visit Northumberland's TXGB channel.  

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with project partners and a wide range of stakeholders  

  • Supporting on all aspects of project reporting and financial delivery across the project and with budget responsibility for spend monitoring.  

  • Collaborate with other members of the Visit Northumberland team, delivery partners and others to develop effective delivery and communication channels and sustainable legacy for the scheme.

  • Build, implement and maintain systems and procedures for the control and delivery of Visit Northumberland projects

  • Represent Visit Northumberland at project partner meetings, workshops and webinars.

General Duties and Tasks

  • Ensure accurate recording and collation of data to produce business and partner specific reports concerning benefit delivery.

  • Ensure all data is handled sensitively and in accordance with General Data Protection Regulation.

  • Any other duties that may be identified to support the delivery of Visit Northumberland’s aims and objectives

Essential skills and experience

  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and partners, but also able to work independently towards goals
  • Excellent customer service skills and a courteous and professional manner

  • High attention to detail

  • Good grammar and writing skills

  • An understanding of spreadsheets, databases and social media

Working pattern

Full time, 37 hour week. Salary £22,500 per annum

We are looking to appoint on an initial 12-month fixed term contract.
